ONTARIO JOCKEY CLUB STAKES. The stake book and program of the Ontario Jockey Club, the premier racing club of Canada, is to hand. The club is to be congratulated on the program, which is most attractive, for there are some valuable stakes to be run for, particulars of which are given in this iesue. The purses, with conditions which will suit horses likely to race at the meeting, have 00 for their lowest value, with entrance money in all cases to the winner. The date of the meeting, Saturday, September 27, is the most beautiful season of the year in Canada and the picture at the commencement of the program well represents the high character of the sport as conducted by the Ontario Jockey Club. The officials are: Judge, Alfred S. Post; Associate Judge, Francis Nelson; Stewards, Francis Trevelyan and A. Belmont Purdy; Starter, Mars Cassidy ; Clerk of Scales, F. W. Gerhardy ; Secretary and Clerk of the Course, W. P. Fraser. The ring is strictly an open one and tenders for the privileges of the same will be opened on Tuesday, September 2. The opening of the meeting follows the close of the new racing association at Buffalo, enabling horsemen to get comfortably settled at Toronto be- fore the saddling bell rings for what promises to be the best meeting yet held by the Ontario Jockey Club.
