Dodona, off flying, showed much speed, but had to be vigorously ridden in the last sixteenth to stall off Hindis determined bid. Coburn showed lethargy at the post and did not get away with his accustomed Quickness. He allowed Hindi to swerve in toward the inside rail against the winner in the last eighth, but the interfering did not change the result. Hindi finished strongly. Sidney C. Love about ran his race. Joe Buckley showed scant speed. Huachuca came with a rush at the end and nipped Nellie Waddell on the post. The latter tired rapidly when the last eighth struggle came up. Fed, ral failed to snow bis usual determined rush at the end and ran far below his best form. Off poorly, he gradually improved his position throughout and outstayed Preetorius in the last eighth, going away at the end. The latter was tiring perceptibly in the closing strides after showing speed throughout. Matin Bell faltered for a moment when a furlong out and then rallied, finishing fast in the last fifty yards. Harry New finished strongly under a vigorous ride, but was not quite good enough. Brulare ran consistently, but tired perceptibly in the last sixteenth struggle. J me Holly ran to her best form. She took care of Jiminoz in the first six furlongs and was materially instrumental in making him tire when the pinch came. Artena had no chance from where she got off. Major Dixon began slowly, but moved up fast when turning for home and came strongly in the closing strides. Harney showed much speed, but tired rapidly when a furlong out. Galathee was right there for six furlongs. George Arab showed early speed. Siesta was practically left. Scratched 34354 James J. Caliban was undoubtedly the best, but was handicapped by a poor ride. He finished resolutely on his own courage. Adelante tired rapidly when the pinch came.
