Chuctanunda forced the pace throughout and drew out decisively in the stretch, but at the end was strongly challenged by Ordnung. The latter finished like a whirlwind and just failed to get up after having closed a gap from a bad start. Belle of Lexington put up a remarkably fast and game race after having essayed to outrun the winner from the first stride. Lady Uncas tired at the end after looming up strongly on the stretch turn and was probably short. Golden Maxim was a good colt badly messed about and had scant chance. Lord Pepper was pocketed next to the rail and finished well. Musette was evidently short. Rockey was out of place and favors a longer route. Satire, skillfully ridden, had much the advantage in being allowed to make his own pace, which was slow, enabling him to stay the journey. Boaster, evidently a rater, was not equal to sprinting with the winner in the stretch. Invincible, a much improved colt, received a lucky start, had clear sailing and sustained his brilliant speed gamely throughout. Blue Ribbon finished very strongly under a powerful ride. Lord of the Vale collided with Bensonhnrst at the start and never got fully into his stride until near the end, where he was wearing the leaders down fast and was best. Yardarm, away poorly, trailed the field to the stretch turn where he was nearly hopelessly pocketed, but closed up like a flash with clear sailing right at the end. Incubator went well. Rosewater, evidently a good one, closed a tremendous gap from a bad start. Cinquevalli quit in the last quarter. Toecan is evidently a mudlark. Scratched 34559 Innsbruck, 104; 34510 Medal, 101. Articulate was a wild horse today, ran in greatly improved form, forced a terrific pace for the first mile and came away fast at the end, and was much the best. Daly is a superior horse on the grass course and finished strongly. Par Excellence, trailing th field to the stretcht was a lucky third. Blues sulked from try i rig-to N follow the fast early pace and ran a bad race. He is a difficult proposition to guess. Colonel Bill, with Articulate out, would probably have won easily.
