Lavator easily raced into the lead in spite of a wide first turn and held sway throughout, being never seriously menaced and was easily best. Seminole, suddenly improved, ran a cracking good race and was much the best of the others. Drauchtsman went steadily throughout and was closing up at the end. Yelp is promising, showed plenty of early speed and fenced well. Templeton had . a rough journey and tired, after essaying to overtake the winner in the first mile and can do better. Collegian is very ordinary. Scratched 35445 Sir Ellerslie, 148; 343893King Edward, 140. Corrected weights Seminole, 142. Overweights Silver Twist, 1 pound. Lavntor, show, 1 to 4. River Pirate broke flatfooted, worked his way through from the rear in the first quarter, came fast in the stretch and was easily best. Joe Cobb forced the pace throughout and held on gamely at the end. Tom Lawson was a prominentcontender, but failed to stay in the last furlong and should improve. Illyria went well. Earl of Warwick failed to stay and probably favors mud. Boutonniere commenced to bear out early and sulked throughout. His race was too bad to be true. His best races were in soft going, however. Musidora evidently partial to the down-hill course and light weight, displayed amazing speed and stamina in holding the lead from this fast field. Honolulu also showed great improvement and closed up with a rush at the end. De Reszke worked a rough passage, being repeatedly interfered with and was gointr strongly at the finish. Guess Work and Ascension were always prominent and held on well Clorita broke so slowly as to have been out of the race early. Titian, under a hard drive from the start, finally wore the pacemaker down at the end and, tiring, only lasted long enough to beat Moon Daisy. The latter received an incapable ride, swerving in and out behind horses, closed a big gap from a poor start and finishing like a flash was much the best. Whisp led for seven furlongs under a stiff pull and tired right at the end. Tact made up much ground from a bad start and showed sudden improvement. Taps and Pretoria were prominent for six furlongs. Advance Guard lost a half dozen lengths on the sharp first turn, but gradually improved his position and finally wore Royal down in a terrific stretch drive, and was easily test. Royal suddenly regained his form, waited hard held on the pacemaker to the stretch where he went to the front apparently a sure winner and ran to his best form. Tom Kenny closed up at the end with a great rush. Hunter Raine ran a steady and game race throughout and is a superior colt over a distance of ground. Herbert, away baaly, moved up fast and had a good chance in the stretch where he was seriously interfered with and crowded into the fence. Circus closed an immense gap in the last half and finished very strongly. Scratched 355C8 Zoroaster, 105; 35456 Andy Williams, 103. Advance Guard, show, 1 to 3. Royal, show, 4 to 5. Tom Kenny, show, 3 to 1.
