NOTES OP THE TURF. Trainer W. Grater has purchased privately for a good price of J. B. Todd, of Lexington, Ky., the three-year-old chestnut gelding Joe Tunstall, by St. Julien Coquette, by.Fonso. ThiB colt was tried as a two-year-old and the Cahns, of St. Louis, thought him a 0,000 youngster. He went wrong last year and has just now rounded back to a flash of his early form. Grater bought him for a high class steeplechase and hurdle horse and will school him at jumping. It is announced that the Brooklyn Jockey Club will improve the Gravesend track in several respects before next season. An entirely new steeplechase course will be built and the chute from which the Brooklyn Handicap is started annually will be widened sufficiently to allow room for at least twenty-four horses to face the barrier. President P. J. Dwyer says that racing will continue at Grayesend for the next ton years at least. f It is now said that racing will be held at Morris Park at least through the season of 1905. The Westchester Racing Association is accepting nominations for a stake to be run ovor the Eclipse course in that year. D. H. Morris is authority for the statement that racing will be conducted at Westchester for three more years anyway. Van Dnsen, an American jockey, who was sug pended recently in Hungary for foul riding, has had his license restored. Dangman, now in Austria, cannot ride there until he produces a license from the Jockey Club, which he neglected to obtain when he left here. Though Jockey Landry preferred charges against M. Van Praag, who assaulted him after the races on Tuesday, the stewards of the Westchester meeting took no action Wednesday because Van Praag is not an owner. Gold Heels, this years winner of the Suburban, was purchased from Winnie OConnor yesterday for ,750 for E. J. Arnold and Co. of St. Louis. Gold Heels will be shipped to St. Louis Sunday and retired to the stud. A Patron, Chicago. 1:12 for six farlongs over a circular course is the record, but the distance has been covered in 1:081 over the straight Eclipse Course at Morris Park. Dasey, Chicago. There is no redress in your caso and if the bookmaker insists on returning your money you will have to take it. J. E. C, Chicago. If it was specified that you was betting on Searcher alone your money should be returned. J. T. C, Chicago. Hermis has not been defeated since running in the American Derby.
