Meltonian, lcky and skillfully riddon and a high class stayer, trailed to the stretch, where ho finished with a tremendous rush and caught tbe others tiring. Engenia Burch ran a brilliant race, moved up like a lash when straightened for the wire and, swerving over to the rail, crowded Acefull and Grey Friar, seriously interfering with the first-named. Acefull, incapably handled and unlucky, broke flatfootod, was rushed into a commanding lead in the first quarter, opened a wide gap at the half and seemed a certain winner, but commenced to tire in the stretch and, with others changing alongside and crowding kim, he paluably sulked. He then came fast suddenly at the end after being apparently beaten off. Grey Friar was only beaten out for third place in the last stride. He was used up in racing with Acefull in the first part of the trip and never had a moments respite.. Merry Acrobat, favored by the soft going, was prominent when a furlong out and held on well. Wild Thyme and Olefiant were not good enough at the weights. Flying Jib, nearly left, closed a tremendous gap. Meltonian, show, 4 to 1. Acefull, show, 1 to 6, urey Friar, show. 1 to 6. Advance Guard indulged his stable companion with the lead to the last quarter, where he wont to the front without much effort and oasily stood off Hunter Raines strong challenge. The latter had trailed to the level stretch and came fast, at the end. Andy Williams mission was evidently to make the running for Advance Guard, which effectually settled his chances for second place. He tired badly at the end and ran as if stale. .Scratched 35745 Herbert, 114; 35571 Articulate, 113; 28987 Maid of Harlem, 105; 35745 Tom Kenny, 98. Overweights Andy Williams, 2 pounds.
