Mattie ; Spencer showed much speed and simply played with the field, winning as her rider pleased. Evelyn ; Byrd came with a rush at the end, nipping Carl Kohler on the post. The latter sustained his speed far- ; ther than usual and finished strongly. The Caxton made up ground fast in the last quarter and finished ; resolutely. Annie Thompson tired when the pinch came, Fairbnry, all entangled at the start, had no , chance by the time he had gotten into his stride. Cork showed early speed. Ed. Dnrazzo easily wore down Laura F. M. in the last sixteenth for third place. The latter tired fast when put to a hard drive. Hindi was off flat-footed and by the time she got into her stride had no chance whatever. Americano was virtually left at the post. Battiste made his run a shade too late with Falix Bard, which came with a rush at the end and finished strongly. Sombrero faltered just a shade in the closing strides. Ho was slightly cut off at the first turn and also just after turning into the back-stretch, but moved up steadily in the last quarter and finished with speed in reserve. Caliban was much the best of the others at the weights and could have won if necessary. Lucien Appleby handled his wnipht well and finished stoutly. Marque made up ground fast in the last quarter. Scarlet Lily tired fast just after straightening for the wire, after showing her usual speed. John McGurk was never a serious contender. Scintillant II. showed scant speed throughout and ran nowhere near the good form he is known to possess. Rolling Boer ran an excellent race for one and one-eighth miles. In the last sixteenth straggle the former outstayed the latter and showed gameness under a hard drive, something he was thought not to possess. LEtrenne ran to her best form. St. Minor was cut off while going down tho backstretch, but made up ground fast in the last quarter and finished strongly. Jaubert showed surprising improvement and is ready to win when placed with judgment. Elsie L. and The Pride wore entangled at the start and did not get into their stride in time to be of advantage. Hayward Hunter was cut off badly by Irving Mayor in the first sixteenth, losing much ground. He was under keon pressure all through the last half mile. Obstinate Simon began to tiro fast after the first mile and an eighth had been run, Irving Mayor ran well for a mile. Scratched 357152Beana, 104 Overweights Barrack, 2 pounds. Barrack, show, out.
