Belle of Lexington beat the gate and made most of her advantage, sustained her brilliant Bpeed unexpectedly well, but scored "a lucky victory over Royal. The latter was shut off on the backstretch, losing six lengths, but closed up a tremendous space of ground and was rapidly overhauling the winner at the end. Unmasked was unequal to the weight concession, but ran a game race. Daly finished with a rush. Six Shooter finished well as usual, but was bearing out at the end and ran the poorest race he has thus far shown here. Redpath evidently sulked today. Wealth was not good enough at the weights. St. Finnan waited in front, the early pace being very slow, and with the advantage of a long lead when beginning the last quarter was enabled to outsprint Rockwater. The latter had lain too far out of it in the first part of the race, but closed a big gap through the stretch and just failed to get up. Zoroaster, trailing to the stretch, came along with a tremendous rush at the end. Remorse followed the winners pace closely and appeared like overhauling him in the stretch, but fell away unexpectedly in the last furlong.
