LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Water Edge, which was a starter in tho third race, propped just as the barrier was released and was left at the post. When the horse did make up his mind to run after the field he made np ground rapidly, but the effort was to much and he was eased up in tho last furlong when the task appeared hopeless. E. J. Arnold was a heavy loser on Felix Bard, which finished third in the handicap. Durnell and Herz were again very much in evidence yesterday, winning the feature race with The Lady and the two-year-old handicap with Prince of Endurance. Both wore heavily backed before post time by the owners. Hatfield and Ownbey purchased from R. Bradley yesterday tho two-year-old Aurio B for . Geyser will in future be barred from starting at Worth on account of his bad acting at the post. P. Tomlinson, agent for E. J. Arnold and Co., left last night for Nashville, Tenn , to be in attendance at tho desporsal sale of the Belle Meade Stock Farm which begins today. Before departure Mr. Arnold instructed him to spare no expense in his efforts to secure the pick of the broodmares that will be offered for sale. Whatover purchases Mr. Tomlinson makes will bo shipped to the breeding establishment at Greonfleld, 111.
