" LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Jockey Hoar, who is under contract to F. D. Weir, has received several offers from owners to go to New Orleans and ride there this winter. The rider is anxious to go to the Crescent City, but unless he gets permission to do so from Mr. Weir he will leave at the close of the Lakeside meeting for Gloucester, N. J where Weir?s winter quarters are located. Late reports from the east are to the effect that Weir will train next year a big string of horses, including the well-known performer, Blues, for Frank Farrell. S. S. Bender furnished two of the winners yesterday in Jack Demund and Lord Melbourne. The latter is a two-year-old and, judging by the easy manner in which he disposed of the company opposed to him, gives promise for his future and should prove more than a useful horse. , Curtis and Dernham purchased at private terms yesterday from W. Burke and Co. the three-year-old Marcos and will ship him with the rest of their horses on Sunday to New Orleans. Barrack and Albemarle, both winners at Lakeside yesterday, are out of-ibe-good- mare Fuble. The former is a five-year-old by Bersah and Albe- marie is a two-year-old by Deceiver. Jockey Wilkerson, who rode Jove, the well backed favorite in the opening race, was suspended by tho Judges for tho remainder of the current meeting, ou account of incompetency. H. N. McTyeire will ship, at the close of the Lakeside meeting, his horses Charley Thompson and Mattie Spencer to Nashville, Tenn , where they will bo wintered. Lord Melbourne, the winner of the fifth race, was bid up by J. W. Briggs 00 over his entered price of 00 and retained by his owner with an advance bid of . C. E. Mahone will shortly send his horses, which includes Banter and Sarah Maxim, to Memphis, Tenn., where they will be rested until spring. Jockey Buchanan was reported too ill to ride yesterday, and cancelled all his engagements which included the mount ou Jack Demund. E. Herz, the junior partner in the firm of Durnoll and Herz, loft yesterday for New York.
