Every indication points to a winter meeting at New Orleans that will exceed in interest and prosperity evea f that of 1901-2, and that is saying a great deal. The sweeping increase of tho purses to a minimum value of 00 is a factor that serves to attract more owners and horses than have heretofore contributed to the success of the Crescent City meetings.! One of the principal features is the Inaugural Handicap for all ages, ,250 added, six furlongs, only to accompany tho nomination. Then comes the Magnolia Selling Stakes, ,000 added, at a mile, all ages. Tho Palmetto Sweepstakes, two-year-olds, six furlongs, .0C0 added. The Preliminary Derby Handicap Sweepstakes, two-year-olds, six furlongs, ,500 added. Tho Crescent City Handicap Sweepstakes, a mile and a quarter, ,500 added, all ages. The Derby will be tho first three-year-old stake of importance of 1903 oast of the Rockey Mountains and as such will fitly close the big hundred days meeting. As a local contribution to the meeting Harry White, the assistant secretary of the Crescent City Jockey Club, and who is looking aftor the stake entries at this point, has made arrangements to ship the following horses to New Orleans at the close of the Roby meeting.
