Gannon saved ground all the way and moved up fast on the backstrctch when going the last time around, got through next to the rail and forced the pnco the rest of the way. Douro was well in hand in the run through the stretch, but Gannon took no chances in the last few strides and pushod him out. Major Maneir made a bold bid in the stretch, but swerved under the whip in the last fifty yards, going from the outside to the inside rail. Adelaide Prince received the benefit of a wall judged ride, but was a shade outclassed and tired in the final furlong. Andy Williams laid too far out of the race for the first two miles. Orontas, under a stout pull to the last half mile, was in dep going next to the rail nearly all the way and tired when the final drive came. Carbuncle was made too much use of and quit.
