GOSSIP OF THE TUKF. Among the passengers on the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse on her arrival at New York last Wednesday were Cash Sloan, A. Knapp, Frank Rutter, Henry ShieldB, Turner and Richards, all jockeys. Cash Sloan went over in February, and has been doing some successful riding in Russia. He won fifty-five out of 205 races, and was placed so many times that he stopped counting. MrB. Sloan was with him. He is not enthusiastic over the treatment Ameridan jockeys received in France. He said that Milton Henry and J. Reiff were awaiting trial, and that they have every chance of being exonerated. There is no evidence against them, and he attributes their trouble to jealousy. Speaking of a jockeys chances in Russia, Cash said : " A jockey in Russia cannot make money by bet? ting, and the only money he gets is what he is paid as salary. Bets are made through themutuals.and the government gets ten per cent, of the winnings."
