Malaspina, away in front, forced the pace and tired badly at the end. Rubind, from a rearward position at the start, raced to the front with superior speed, but failed to stay. Phyllis also failed to stay and is in poor form. Estado closed a gap from a poor send-off. Blackthorn, show. 1 to 2. Sir Tom Tiddler, show, 2 to 1. Little Margaret secured a lucky start, drew clear in the atretch and held her own gamely under a vigorous finish. Sir Preston got away running and sustained his speed in much improved fashion. Oro Viva showed improvement and finished strongly. Mr. Dingle, away poorly, closed a big gap under a bad ride and was probably best. Salver worked a rough journey and was closing up well at the end. Won in a cantor ; second easily. Mike Rice was best at the weights, is greatly improved and is a superior horse across country, forced the pace throughout and came away fast on the fiat. Duke of York was unequal to conceeding the weight, but ran an honest race and was always a close contender until in the last quarter. Rainier went well, but is a very ordinary horse. Flashlight gave a brief glimpse of speed. Dagmar was evidently not fit. Mike Rice, show, out. Duke of York, show, out. Rainier, show, 2 to 5. 36632 F0URTH RACE 6 1-3 furlongs. Pnrse 00. All ageB. Kenilworth broke flatfooted and apparently indulged Sad Sam with the lend for the first half, then forged to the front in the last quarter with comparative ease and was much the best. Sad Sam beat the barrier, ran a fast and game race and stayed the distance unexpectedly well. Water Cure, away badly and outrun to the stretch, closed a big gap in the last quarter and ran in much improved form. Byronerdale, away badly and worse ridden, can do much better, but appeared unable to stride freely in the Bloppy going. Golden Light showed much early speed, but was tiring at the end. Matt Hogan was nearly left, but under a skillful, patient ride gradually closed an immense gap and, coming fast at the end, caught Jim Gore II. tiring and unprepared. The lattor had forced the pace and appeared a safe winner almoBt throughout. Golden Cottage was always prominent, held on gamely and was gradually wearing Jim Gore II. down at the end. Esherin broke slowly, pushed through next to the rail on the first turn and, taking the lead at the half, opened a wide gap on the field, cantered home and was much the best.
