THOROUGHBREDS SOLD. Tho Bale of the Fair brood mares, the St. Simon stallion, St. Avonicus and the Mallowmot Farm yearlings at the Occidental Horse Exchange De-comber 17 surpassed expectations in point of attendance and prices realized for the mares, though it was thought St. Avonicus and the Mallowmot yearlings would bring larger sums. Tho bidding for St. Avonicus was started at ,500 by a representative of E. J. Arnold of St. Louis, and progressed merrily until ha was knocked down to the bid of Caosar Young, who also purchased a couple of brood mares and a yearling or two. A new Richmond ;n the breeding field is S. S. Eakle of Williams, Colusa County, a young gentleman of wealth and position in his county and a neighbor of J. S. Gibson, breeder of Josie G., February, Narra G., J. Boggs, Bloomsbury, etc. He secured I Declare for 50 and Sally Sensiblo for 25. E.J. Arnold was quite a heavy purchaser, through a representative, ha getting Callatine for30, Janet N. dam of Crescendo, Bellicoso, Wandering Nun and Dolce- for ,C03, Pow Wow for C0 and Shi-moga half sister tc Sain for ,000, Barney Schrei-ber being a contender. "Ab" Stemler secured the good looking Ray of Gold for ,750 after a lively tilt with Arnolds representative. .Lee Blasingame got a bargain in Princess at 50, since a yearling from her brought ,600 a little over a week ago, and C. T. Boots takes the record breaker, Lncretia Borgia, back to the farm where she first saw the light, and also bought Centenella, Miss Truth, Phoeba, Rose of Ormonde by tho unbeaten Ormonde, St. Kristine and Ursula.
