Sweet Nell was well placed throughout and fought it out sharply all of the last furlong and hung on gamely in the deciding drive, but just managed to last long enough to stall off Noweta. The latter was wearing- the winner down and would have won in another stride. Apple Sweet began slowly, but saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and putgamod Fading Light in the end. Brush By was on the extreme outside all the way and was given a bad ride. Agnes Mack swerved to the outside in-the stretch run. Sweet NH , show, 3 to 2. Noweta, show, 2 to 1. Won easily; second driving. Paul Crey ton galloped along behind the leaders until in the final furlong, where he took command when his rider was ready and drew away in the last sixteenth. Maltster ran a good race and ontgamed Ed L. in the final drive. Redfern had the latter under restraint for the first half, but the horse tired when ho called on him strongly. The Stewardess showed early speed, but tired in the stretch run. Grantor saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, but quit when it came to a drive. Frank M. was going fast at the end. The Messenger ran a good race and- out-gamed Port Royal when it came to a drive. The latter ran well, but was tiring at the end. The latter came fast after swinging to the outside at the turn into the homestretch and would have won in a few more,strides. Flaneur showed the most early speed and hung on longer than usual. Rough Rider reared up when the barrier was released and was practically left at the post, but closed a big gap. Blue Ridge and-Annie Laurntta ran well to the stretch.
