Farmer Jim caught tho leaders tiring in the stretch, finished fast and outgamed Orpheum when it came to a drive. The latter ran in much improved form, but swerved over to the inside at the furlong post. Hedge did his best and was under a hard drive all of the last quarter. John Coulter appeared like the winner at the furlong post when he bolted across the track into the deep going on the inside. Mamselle ran a poor race. Farmer Jim was run up to ,600 and bought by J. Benmora came with a rush through the last furlong, caught Little Jack Horner tiring and outgamed him when it came to a drive. Little Jack Horner showed the most early speed, but found the route too long and tired under pressure. Frank Kenney made up much ground from a poor start and ran a good race. Miss Hums stumbled at the far turn and went to her knsos, then came wide into the homestretch and tired when it came to a drive. Katie Gibbons was on the outside all the way. Censor was interforod with at the start and Fuller took him back and gradually worked his way to the leaders, then came tn the extreme outside at the turn into the homestretch, finished with a rush and passed tho tiring Arntoma in the last sixteenth. The latter showed a lot of earlv speed, but tired as if short. White Owl was in a pocket most of the way and finished fast through the last furlong. Jim Nap beat the barrier, but quit badly after running a half mile. Flaneur made up much ground. Whangdoodle ran well to the stretch. Censor was run up to ,200 and bought by S. C. Hildreth. He was outrun for the first half, but worked his way up on the outside while rounding the far turn, caught Sheriff Bell at the furlong post and outstayed him in a drive to the wire. Sheriff Bell was well ridden and did his best and had no mishaps. Melbourne Eclipse finished fast and was on the extreme outside all the way. This horee is improving. The route was seemingly too far for Henry McDaniel. He showed early speed, but tired and quit in the stretch. Scratched 370693Shogun, 97; 37C81 Fading Light, 95. Bough Eider showed the most early speed and ran a good race, but tired at the end. Commissioner Forster ran well for a half, but tired thereafter as if short. The race should improve him.
