NOTES OF THE TUKE. News comes from Memphis that J. W. Schorrs Crescont City Derby candidate, Rightful, is coming nround fast and is sl owing good work in his trials. This would seem to indicato that Righlful will bo the Schorr roprosontative in the Crescont City Derby, which is run on the closing day of the Crescont City Jockey Clubs meeting, March 11. Tho Hildreth colt, Topsoil, is also being sent along in preparation for this Derby, and Hildreth an. nounces that if all goes well he will have two representatives in the raco. He will also start Witfull. It was said that J. E. Madden will eond on his three-year-old Glassful, from Louisville to start. Albert Simons has decided upon achaDgo of plans for tho coming seasons campaign. He will ship his entire stable from New Orleans to Bennings at the close of the mooting. Last year ho took in the western circuit and did not go east until late in tho summer. Tho fact that John W. Drako intends racing at Memphis and Louisvillo this spring may have had something to do with Simons determination lo go oast earlier than he contemplated. Thero has been considorablo friction between these two owners for a year, and both havo boon boosting each others norscs in selling races. Dr. J. D. Neet, of Kindergarten stud, Woodford county, has been offered ,000 for the yearling bay colt by Top Gallant Cinderella, by Tomahawk, or Blue Ruin. The tender came from W. C. Whitney, but in what manner Mr. Neet did not state. He, however, states that he has refused the offer, and priced the youngster at 2,500. The colt is a half brother to Hastings, Plaudit, Ferrier, Glenheim and Handsome. John Hyland, trainer for August Belmont, has just returned to New York from Garnet 3. C, where a part of the stable is spending the winter. Hyland says the two-year-olds there will be sent to Bennings. He also says that Mizzen, Masterman, Lord of the Vale, Fire Eater and other horses that did well last year have shown improvement and will be ready for an early campaign. Will Darden, cf tho firm of W. W. Darden and Co., has signed a contract with jockey A. W. Booker for his services the coming season. His salary will be $,C00ayoar. Booker is one of tho most promising light-weight riders in tho west and should advance his reputation with tho Darden stable, as it includes some of the best horses in training. It has beon figured up that although Hanover has been dead four years his progeny may win more than ,000,000 on tho turf. Up to the present time Hanovers sons and daughters have captured 29,-202 in stakes and pursts. Though ho was represented last year exclusively by three-year olds and upward, thiy won 1,340. Cheviot, aged about twenty-five years, dropped dead last Monday of heart failure at Avondale, E. S. Gardners breeding establishment near Nashville. Cheviot was the sire of tho American Derby winner Rey el Santa Anita, Van Brunt and other noted horses. "Link" Jones, the once noted colored jockey, is dead at his home, Nashville, Tenn. He was 42 years old, and rode many high class racers in the 70s. Sidney Paget has secured second call on tho services of Julius Fleischmanns regular jockey, "Jack" Martin. Moabina has been fired in front and the mare will havo to go out of training for a month or more.
