Emshee was off well in motion and showed a lot of speed, but Gannon kept him well in hand until in the last furlong where he wore Ahumada down and after stalling off a challenge from Federal won going away at the end. Ahumada saved ground all the way and displayed much speed but tired when it came to a hard drive. Major Tenny was interfered with at the start, but closed a big gap and finished fast beating Federal out in the last stride. The latter was on the outside all the way and covered much more ground than any horse in the race. Jim Clark and Huzzah ran fairly good races. Nitrate was overweighted. The latter began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished fast and would have won in another stride. Style showed the most early speed, but tired as if short and the race should improve her.
