Pat Morrissey was favored by the soft going, closed up steadily on the outside in the good going, finished well and got up in the last stride. Legal Maxim drew clear of the field on the stretch turn and tired in .the stretch run, but was unlucky to lose and suffered from a bad ride. DollieWiethoff forced the pace for the first half, in deep going throughout, and was probably best. Alaria finished fast. Estado, away badly, closed a considerable gap. The Singer ran badly. Stunts from a lucky start, led throughout, but was unduly restrained in the first half and finished out a long stretch run gamely. Greyfeld was a good horse in the soft going and was fast wearing the winner down at the end. James F., away poorly and messed about, raced into prominence on the far turn but went very wide and lost his advantage, then finished well on his own courage and at the weights was probably best. Goldone closed up fast in the last quarter. Mr. Dingle was a contender until fifty yards from the finish and was crowded. Bonnie Lissak fell away unexpectedly on the backstretch. Young Pepper was lucky, had clear sailing, drew to the front when a furlong out and ap-neared an easy winner, but was unexpectedly driving at the end to beat H. L. Frank. The latter got away badly, went the longest way and finished with a rush and was probably best T J Cox displayed a good turn of speed, but tired in the last furlong and was prob-iblv short George Koester went well. Cayucos quit after going a good quarter. The Cure and El Verraco are fine lookers and will probably beat this kind later on. Scratched 376142Bombardier, 109. ?eandphlw. If- H.T Frank, show, 3 to 5. Won easily; second driving, velma Clark secured a lucky start and under a skillful ride was reserved to the stretch where she finished fast and was best. Tyranus likes this track and ran a game race. Bogus Bill was in deep going throughout. Stella Perkins was closing up at the end. Grand Sachem will improve over this race. Platonius closed a gap. Arthur Ray is evidently a non-stayer and quit after going a fast half. Scratched 370403Father Wentker, 110; 37602 Kickumbob, 110; 35856 Donator, 105; 37700 Cherries, 100. Velma Clark, show, evens. The Ledaean is evidently a stayer, closed up with a rush in the last furlong and won as if he outclassed the field. Colonel Ballantyne, particularly favored by the soft going, raced into the lead on the stretch turn and seemed a sure winner when a furlong out and may have been caught napping at the end Star Cotton was a sharp contender when a sixteenth out, but tired. Orsina got away badly and improved her position gradually, indulging the pacemaker to the far turn, where she went to the front cantering and was much the best. Mimo made the running for the first half after which he stood a long stretch drive gamely. Diamante unexpectedly fell out of contention at the half, after which he closed a tremendous gap, finished like a whirlwind and was evidently second best. Snare developed useful speed and stamina. Prestolus, under pressure throughout, ran as if handicapped in the cuppy going Past Master, probably short, was well up for the first five furlongs. Scratched 376752Action, 102; 37276 J. H.
