GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Jockey Robbins will ride in the east the coming season, according to the announcement made by his father recently. He says he has virtually come to terms with an eastern turfman, but for good and sufficient reasons would not make known his name for a few days. The action of the New Orleans racing officials in denying Robbins the privilege of taking outside mounts when the track is bad may hasten his departure from New Orleans. Last Wednesday the little fellow was engaged to ride Amigari, the winner of the Speed Handicap, but owing to the condition of the track, the stewards would not permit him to fill the engagement.
