Aft, etc. The rain Tuesday came down good and ; strong, and sent all trainers again down to : the covered track for their work. Some of : the horses were worked on the extreme outside. Extensive improvements are being made on the grandstand and clubhouse at Cumberland Park for the spring meeting. Only two fillies in training at Nashville are eligible to the Kentucky Oaks Maiza-veria, in the stable of John Greener, and Vestry, in the stable of E. S. Gardner. The program book for the spring meeting at Cumberland Park will be issued next week. About 4,000 will be given in added money for the nine days meeting. Fred Cook has engaged stable room for his string at Cumberland Park. The Cook horses will be sent to Nashville about the first of April. E. S. Gardner, proprietor of the Avondale farm, has finally got names for his two-year-olds, after several attempts. He gave the bay Ally by Himyar Monte Rosa, the name of Moulin Rouge; selected Folies Ber-geres for the bay Ally by Himyar Frogmore, and for the bay colt by Masetto Porcelain the name of Potter. The most promising outsider for the Cumberland Park Derby is Chamblee. He is also highly thought of by Nashville trainers for the American Derby. Chamblee is in the stable of S. E. Parmer. His first start of the season will be at Cumberland Park. Last season Chamblee won four races. Fore and Aft, in the Gerst stable, will not be a starter in the Tennessee Derby. The weather conditions at Nashville have been such as will render it impossible to get the son of George Kinney ready. Gamelia, by Great Tom, foaled a bay colt by Ogden Tuesday. The mare will be bred back to E. Wishards St. Simon colt St. Dory. Gamelia is the property of William Gerst. The chestnut mare Alta Loma, in the Drake stable, will be bred this spring to Runnels. Mr. Wishard will also experiment a little, and will also breed Runnels to Trinity Bell and Sweet Billie. These mares will be bred a little late, and will not be thrown out of training.
