Lapidus, suddenly improved and with a lucky start, forced the pace throughout and won going away. Platonius closed up with a rush. Dotterel worked a rough journey to the stretch turn where she went wide, but finished out the last quarter going fast. Pupil was always prominent and was the chief contender when a furlong out, but failed to stay. Priestlike was seriously interfered with at the start and nearly fell, then covered much ground under inadequate handling. M. F. Tarpey went well. El Piloto gradually improved his position and closing fast at the end just got up in the last stride J. Boggs, lucky at the start and reserved to the stretch, assumed command in the stretch run and appeared the winner, but was caught napping at the end. Marineuse from a poor start raced into a contending position with a superior burst of speed and held on gamely in the final drive. Flamero, forced out Of position early, finished with a whirlwind rush and was probably best. Royal F. tired after a fast half. Saul of Tarsus ran as if short and can do better. Rinaldo II., after following Gibraltar closely for the first half, raced into a long and winning lead on the far turn and was much the best. Sea Lion closed up fast in the stretch and saved second place in the last stride. Dagmar ran in improved form. Alaria, away badly, closed up a tremendous gap and came with a belated rush at the end. Isabelita, all but left, made up twentv lengths. Maraschino was going strongly at the end. Gibraltar and Tommy Knight forced the early pace and ran like a team from the start to the finish, both """scratched SjfHafe, 109; 377333Pat Morrissey, 10S; 37723 Light Ball, 103; 375943 Cathello, 98. Winner B. c, by Santiago Lady Diamond trained by W. J. Speirs. Went to post at 3:31. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Diamante trailed the pacemakers and making his effort when straightened out in the stretch run scored in game fashion and ran like a good colt. Fossil favors light weight, helped to force the pace throughout and ran the best race of his career. Position trailed under restraint and put up a phenomenal sprint in the last quarter. Kittie Kelly sustained her speed gamely and should improve. Autolight, bumped into at the start, went the longest way around and received a weak finish. Ethylene was palpably short. She raced well for seven furlongs then tired. Constellator had no chance with his jockey. Scratched 37430Horton, 109. Diamante, show, 4 to 1. Fossil, show, 4 to 5. Position, show, 4 to 5. Baffled, skillfully ridden, lucky and with clear sailing, indulged the pacemaker to the stretch where she drew into a clear lead, which she retained and was going away at the end. Blessed Damozel. was greatly bothered in the first quarter, moved into a contending position on the backstretch, but was again crowded out while making the stretch turn, finished fast and was probably best. Kickumbob ran in improved form and was always prominent. Tizona is improving. Rasp is a fast horse, but dislikes to go over seven furlongs. Overweights Learoyd, 1 pound; El Pilar, 1. Rag Tag followed Glendenning closely from the start and wore him down with ease at the end and won going away. Little Margaret closed up with a rush after a wide stretch turn and a weak inefficient ride. Mexicana received a bad start and had scant chance with an incapable rider, made up many lengths and finished like a cyclone and ran the best race of her career. Huachuca, slightly sore and unable to stride freely on the hard track, closer! up with a tremendous rush in the stretch and badly ridden ran on top of horses at the furlong post and was pulled up to a standstill to keep from going down. Glendenning made the running for the first five furlongs and tired badly at the end. Golden Light was outrun, in the early stages and was closing strongly in the last furlong.
