Jerid, particularly favored by the stiff going, jumped into a lead at the start which he increased without urging, winning pulled up and was much the best. Ragnarok II. closed up steadily in the stretch and finished going fast. Royal F. followed the winners pace closely and but for his saddle slipping would have been a good second. Tyranus, away badly, closed a tremendous gap under an inert ride. Young Morello ran in the deep going throughout and tired in the final drive. The Hoodoo ran in improved form. Bernota was nearly left, but can do much better. Scratched 38030Lou Clieveden, 105; 36902 Dwight Way, 104; 38011 Legal Maxim, 104. Overweights Dance Along, 1 pound. Jerid, show, 6 to 5. Spindle, improved suddenly, led throughout and held the field safe at all stages. Disturber was as easily second best, both running away from the others. Essence, away badly, closed an early gap, but failed to stay and probably disliked the going. Pirate Maid closed up ground throughout from a bad start. Grand Sachem ran in the deep going and tired in the final drive. Formero liked the going and went in improved form closing up fast at the end. Choteau had no chance with a bad jockey and requires a vigorous ride. Mission was anchored in the heavy going next to the rail. Sweet Tone received a lucky start and following the pacemaker closely wore him down in a long stretch drive, winning going away fast. Military Man is a slow beginner and being Inadequately handled fell out of the race in the first furlong, but commenced to gain in the last quarter in the deep going, finished like a cyclone and riders reversed would have won. Planet, away in his stride, made the running for three furlongs, tiring badly at the end. Emil ran in greatly improved form and may develop into a useful racer. No show betting on first three. 38069 FOURTH RACE 1 MIIe- Purse 00. 3 -year-olds and upward. Handicap. Nigrette was skillfully reserved early, came through with a rush in the deep going on the stretch turn and won going away. Bard Burns sustained his superior speed unexpectedly well and when leading he ran out in the stretch and narrowly saved second place. Annie Max was always prominent and finished fast under a poor ride. Bill Massie trailed the early pace and was closing up fast at the end. The Fretter ran well for six furlongs, but was anchored in the deep going and can do better. Diderot is only at home in sloppy going. Nigrette, show, 1 to 4. Bard Burns, show, 2 to 1. Winner B. h, by Friar Tuck Snow Blossom trained by J. Green. Went to post at 3:54. At post 9 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second easily. Berendos secured a lucky start and under a vigorous ride wore the leaders down in the last quarter and appeared an easy winner, but was unexpectedly driving at the end. Greyfeld beat the barrier and made the most of his advantage, but fell away on the stretch turn under bad handling and then came again very fast right at the end, was best and was favored by the stiff going. The Miller was in the deep going throughout and finished with a . rush. Maraschino, away badly, closed a gap and was going fast at the end. San Lution tired suddenly when apparently sure of second place and nearly fell in the last twenty yards. Flamero ran badly. Urchin was short. Scratched 377942Platonius, 102; 37924 Louwelsea, 95. Hainault, which got away badly, improved his position at once and followed E. M. Brattains pace closely to the stretch where he passed him without urging, was carried wide and in- terfered with and was much the best. E. M. Brattain made the running by a wide early margin and ran a game and consistent race, but was unequal to the required weight con- cession to the winner. Muresca ran extra well and was coming fast at the end. Botany was always outrun. Quiz ran a very bad race and was sadly deficient of speed. Hainault, show, out. E. M. Brattain, show, 1 to 4. Muresca, show, 7 to 10.
