At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second handily. Dotterel worked a rough journey in good style, finished with a rush at the end and won going away. Bee Rosewater forced the pace from the start and when straightened for the wire appeared to have a long and apparently winning lead, but tired at the end. Alta G. came fast at the end. Guida tired and quit after going a half. Penance was going well at the end and was not excessively urged at any stage. Figardon made up much ground from a poor send-off. Won pulling up; second easily. General Roberts beat the barrier and led unextended throughout, evidently far outclassed the field and is a coming good one. St. George Jr. finished very fast and ran in greatly improved form. Annie Marie was lucky, followed the winners pace closely and held on well. Whoa Bill received careful handling from start to finish and appeared to be only cantering in the last furlong. Ethel Abbott closed a gap from a bad start. Scratched 37891 San Francisquito, 105. . Sugden, away poorly, raced quickly into a contending position and finished fast, wearing Galanthus down at the end. The latter was lucky, drew to the front early and appeared a sure winner, but was swerving under a whipping finish in the last furlong. Johnny Mc- Cartey steadily improved his position, closing up fast in the stretch. Lode Star apparently sulked at first and then made up fifteen lengths from the half in and wants a longer race. Won driving; second the same Gorgalete secured a lucky start and forced the pace throughout, but was tiring and swerv-, ing in the last quarter and bore into Warte Nicht in the last furlong, then came on and won going away fast. Warte Nicht got away badly, but steadily improved his position flashed through next to the rail in the last quarter and but for crowding might have won He had to pull up almost to a standstill and just saved second place. Polonius was closing up like a whirlwind at the end and ran a good race. Salver was nearly left and made up fifteen lengths. Dupont is a slow beginner and ran a bad race. Gorgalete was disqualified and placed last, an inconsistent ruling at variance with the recent practice, as Gorgalete was clearly second best and had not interfered with any of the rear horses.
