Won easily; second driving. Plantagenet broke running, fairly revelled in the going and ought to have won more easily, but Chappell took no chances with him and urged him excessively. Sir Christopher ran consistently and outgamed Blue and Orange in the final drive. The latters race was a good one. Annie Grace was in the deep going all the way and tired in the final furlong. Eloim was used too much in trying to get to the front and tired. Musical Slipper made up ground from a poor start. Pride of Galore was crowded back at the start. Scratched 38127 Little Boy, 105; 38108 True Blue, 103; 38200 Lady Radnor, 101; 38149 Geneseo, 101; 38092 Showman, 105. Corrected weights Midnight Chimes, 104. It was easy for Arius as he fenced well and every other starter either fell or bolted. "Walter Cleary was winning in a romp when he bolted at the last jump. Goldray fell when two jumps from home, but was remounted and finished. Kalorama went to the outside after falling at the same jump as Lida "Woodlands. The course resembled a swamp in spots. Mezzo has improved with each race, finished with a rush when in the stretch next to the outside rail and got up in the last stride. Lord Advocates performance was a good one. Hard ridden to dispose of Jerry, he did not have enough left to stall off Mezzo. Jerry showed decided improvement. Ithan goes farther with each race and is now worth remembering. Cherubim, off poorly, made up ground in the first quarter and was under a drive nearly all the way. Fortunatus did not run to expectations. Benduro showed scant speed and was crowded back at the start. Scratched 380723Trapezist, 108; 38221 John Nevin, 106; 38221Drop-oRye, 103. Corrected weights Lord Advocate, 111. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Mollie Peyton was at home in the going and although tiring in the last hundred yards held her advantage under a hustling finish. Flara would have won had she got through in time and finished very fast next to the outside rail. Blue Victor did well, but was weakly handled. Bassverine made up a lot of ground, but the effort was too much and he tired in the final sixteenth. Fluke was messed about all the way. Scratched 292443jMowich, 107; 36490 Bijou, 100. Redfern avoided the early pace and had to ride hard in the stretch to catch Slidell, but won going away. Slidell could not give the weight and tired in the last furlong after forcing a fast pace. His race under the conditions was a good one. Bar Le Due was only third because Mulholland could not cope with Haack. McWilliams was weakly handled for the entire distance and would have been a contender with a good ride. Scratched 36488 Orontas, 126; 38168 Athelroy, 110; 38148 Flying Buttress, 108.
