READY AT LAKESIDE. The most noteworthy arrivals yesterday at Lakeside were the horses of Fred Cook and J. J. Marklein. The formers string consists of fourteen head- which got in from Louisville in charge of trainer W. Phillips and includes Haviland, Tayon, Omdurman and Alee. Linguist, Lendin and Bessie Spahr, the stars of the stable, were left at Louisville in charge of "Brown Dick," who will start them in several stakes to be run at Churchill Downs. Jockeys Dbminick and Newcom will do the riding for the Cook stable and are expected to arrive here today. In Markleins lot are ten, which were shipped here from Memphis and includes Laura F. M., Obstinate Simon and John J. Regan. The promising light weight C. Kelly will do the riding for the stable. A car load of horses, the property of various owners, is due to arrive here today from Memphis and from the same place will come several jockeys. Among them will be Jesse Mathews, J. Baker, J. Walsh and Sin-gerly. T. J. Kiley, former trainer for B. J. Arnold, has moved the horses belonging to him from Hawthorne to Lakeside. Mr. Kiley strengthened his stable considerably last Saturday, by purchasing the horses Maximus, "Will Shelly and a two-year-old filly by Sir Hugo, at St. Louis. These horses were formerly the property of B. J. Arnold and were seized at Memphis by order of the United States court and shipped to St. Louis and ordered sold. The other horses in Kileys stable are Felix Bard and Wolfram. The latter is a three-year-old of promise purchased last year from Mr. Belmont. Colonel Hamilton, who will be the presiding Judge at Lakeside and Harlem, arrived yesterday from his home in Kentucky. The other officials are all on hand and everything is in readiness for the opening of the meeting.
