Hilary, fresh and good, received a lucky start and raced prominently to the stretch where he held on gamely under a vigorous finish. Legal Maxim worked a rough journey resolutely closing up fast when with clear sailing at the end. Fairbury went in improved form. Egyptian Princess failed to stay. Yellowstone, away poorly, came through next to the rail in the last quarter and appeared like the winner a furlong out. Bernota closed a big gap from a poor send-off. Andrew Ring was unfortunate early and closing up like a flash at the end was unlucky to lose. Blue Miracle sustained his speed unexpectedly well. Dotterel got away poorly. Tom Slavin received a lucky start and made the running for six furlongs, losing his advantage by a wide stretch turn, but finished fast and was probably best. Miss Vera appeared like the winner a furlong out, but tired badly. Rim Rock closed a. big gap. Respirator went well. Matin Bell was practically left.
