Kinford was bumped into at the start, but closed a big gap and out-gamed Pea Ridge when it came to a drive. Pea Ridge was made too much use of in the first half and tired when strongly called on. Sandwich had no mishaps. John Coulter was carried wide at the turn into the homestretch and was on the outside of the leaders all the way. Bargee was in a pocket in the last sixteenth. Went to post at 3:27. At post 3 minutes. Start fair. Won driving; second easily. Do Madge was well ridden. McJoynt took hold of her in the run down the backstretch and nursed her along for a final effort, caught Flaneur at the furlong post and outgamed him in a sharply contested finish. The latter showed the most early speed, but tired when the pinch came. Presgrave tired at the end as if short. Lapidus also tired and Daly was of little help to him at the end. Charley Thompson was under restraint until well around the far turn, but did not respond when urged and did not run his race. Handspinner was cut off at the turn into the backstretch and came again in the stretch run. This horse has seemingly lost his turn of speed and is probably overtrained. Scratched— 385663Domsie, 106. Booker waited with Briers for the first half, then came through on the inside at the turn into the homestretch, caught Bedlam tiring and was going away at the end. Bedlam was much used in chasing Dolly Gray in the first half and tired at the end, but outgamed Afghan in the final drive. The latter moved up fast on the outside at the turn into the homestretch, but tired when called on, Dolly Gray ran a good half, but quit in the stretch.
