ONeill began slowly, but made up ground fast in the last eighth and easily t, outstayed Elsie de Vere. The latter ran in improved form. Tom Rees tired when the pinch came. Miss Liza was not called on until turning for home, where she closed up on John J. Regan and outstayed him to the wire in a fierce drive, Dominick clearly outriding J. Booker. John J J Regan ran his race and would probably have won with a stronger rider up. Pyrrho and ] Limelight fought it out closely in the last sixteenth for third place. He was pocketed at the half mile post and had to pull out in the final eighth to the outside. Under the whip he responded gamely and was going away at the end. Dan McKenna ran well to the stretch, but tired palpably when called on strongly. Gregor K. tired badly when a furlong out. Scorpio displayed keen speed and was much the best of the others. Haidee closed up ground I in the stretch and finished going fast. Mimo had enough when a furlong out. Always well up he challenged Meran when a fur-lone out and after disposing of him stood off Filiforms bid in the last hundred yards. Filiform closed up fast in the final furlong, but faltered in the closing strides. False Lead d came with a rush at the end, nipping Meran on the post for third place. Meran was well II beaten just after straightening out for home. The track was too hard to suit Prairie Dog. Scratched— 38548 Irkutsk, 97; 38549 Harry Beck, 107.
