Linguist showed much speed throughout, but had to be driven out hard in the last sixteenth to stall off Au Revoirs determined challenge. The latter appeared the winner in the final eighth, but tired under punishment in the closing strides. He failed to display his former early burst of speed. Irene Mac tired fast when the pinch came. Oronte, off well in his stride, easily ran Algareta into early submission and was never afterward in trouble, winning as his rider pleased. Miss Manners was all entangled at the start, got into her full stride slowly, but made up ground fast in the last quarter and finished going fast, nipping Tayon on the post. The latter met with no mishaps and ran his race. Zyra ran an impressive race making up much ground in the stretch. St. Cuthbert came with a rush at the end and bears watching from now on. Won easily; second the same. Huzzah was not called on until entering the last quarter, where he moved up fast and caught Thane tiring in the last sixteenth. The latter showed much speed, but tired palpably when challenged by the winner. Flying Torpedo easily outstayed El Ghor in the last eighth struggle. The latter ran a good race for seven furlongs. Felix Bard retired after showing well for six furlongs. He bears watching from now on. Scratched— 38668 C B. Campbell, 107. Overweights — El Ghor, 3 pounds. Huzzah, show, out. Thane, show, out. Start good for all but W. J. Deboe, which was left flatfooted. Won driving; second handily. Scorpio displayed a keen turn of speed, but tired noticeably in the last hundred yards. Dominick would not be denied, however, * and under a strong ride held him together to the wire. Burnie Bunton closed up gradually in the last eighth, but could not quite get up. She had no mishaps and ran her race. Beau Ormonde met with Interference as the barrier went up and was pocketed while going down the .backstretch. He was squeezed in against the inside rail while running near the i, last eighth post and got through too late to be of advantage. Automaton tired when turn- ing for home and then rallied in the closing strides. Gregor K. finished going fast. Stem Winder showed some early speed. Sanctum showed a great turn of speed and after running J. W. ONeill into early submission came away without much trouble. Don Domo finished going fast and was easily the best of the others. J. W. ONeill tired slightly in the closing strides, but ran the best race he has shown yet. Peter Paul ran a dull race and can do better. Neither Beneficent nor Arnold K. showed much speed and were never serious factors. Both can do much better and their races should be thrown out in future calculations. Bonnie Lissak moved up fast when turning for home and in a long stretch drive outstayed Barrack. The latter ran a good race and was hard ridden by Coburn, but tired slightly in the closing strides. Alma Girl appeared to have a chance when a furlong out, but tired fast when the pinch came. Alee had enough after a mile had been run.
