Duela showed surprising speed and improvement and fairly spreadeagled her field. Miss Aubrey made up ground and ran a good race after meeting with Interference while going up the backstretch. Immortelle finished fast and resolutely. Pettijohn made up ground and should be benefited by the race. Fannie Knox showed early speed. Miss Guido ran a bad race and can do better. So can Lelia Barr. The latter ran a fine race for her first out and should be benefited by this race. Imboden ran well to the stretch, where he tired. Matt Wadlelgh had no mishaps. She raced Elastic into submission after ?olng the first half and had speed in reserve at the end. Elastic had no chance to beat Bylvia Talbot at the weights, but easily held the remainder of the field safe. Pourquoi Pas inished fast. Mattie Spencer showed speed for five-eighths. Jordan was off in front, well ridden, did his best and had no mishaps. Port Royal closed up fast after going the long way around. He will do better. Dolly Hayman ran a good race and hung on gamely although she tired. Lord Melbourne ran well to the stretch. Ben Lear tired after showing early speed. Dr. Clark was always a contender and ran his race. Dave Sommers met with early interference and closed up fast and resolutely in the stretch. Fugurtha was weakly handled. Rosecourt and Stub were used too much in chasing Sweet Dream and quit badly. Burgoyne was not ready and is a fair horse in the mud when fit. Overweights — Marchioness, 5 pounds.
