Helgesen did not hurry her in the first half and saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, caught Toah tiring at the end, got up in the last fifty yards and outgamed him in a sharp drive. The race should improve Toah. He ran well and finished gamely, but tired as if short. Bummer II. was practically left at the post, closed a big gap and finished fast. Skilful was bumped into at the start and crowded back and was used too much in the first half in going to the front and tired. Two Lick showed early speed, but tired. She went very wide in turning into the stretch carrying Skilful with her. Scratched— 3S8113Our Jessie, 105. Overweights — Two Lick, 3 pounds. Talpa, show, 9 to 20. Toah, show, out. Helgesen waited with him until in the last quarter before making a move, his mount then finished fast and catching Magi tiring at the end won going away. Magi ran a good race, but was used too much in chasing Jake Greenberg and tired in the stretch run. Dr. Hart did his best and was driving to the limit at the end and swerved over to the inside in the last furlong. Prism closed a big gap and finished going very fast. Winner — Ch. c, by Albert — Amabel trained by J. P. Mayberry. Went to post at 4:09. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second the same. J. P. Mayberry showed a high order of speed all the way, made all his own pace, shook off Paris and Copperfield at the sixteenth post and coming away at the end won with consid-; erable in reserve. Copperfield showed speed and was well ridden, but tired after getting to J. P. Mayberry at the furlong post. The weight seemed to anchor Paris, which ran well to the stretch, but was tiring at the end. Walnut Hill is a slow beginner and made up a lot of ground from where he got away. Batts stumbled before they had gone a sixteenth and unseated Romanelli. This interfered with Talhouet and Proceeds. Scratched— 38932 Braneas, 118; 388G23Quest, 113. J. P. Mayberry, show, evens.
