Lady Free Knight showed much the most speed throughout and the result was never in doubt. Ed Guinzbuig came with a rush at the end and easily passed Belle Juan in the last iifty yards. The latter ran in improved form tiring only when the pinch came. Elie made up much ground in the last quarter. Soldier of Fortune was thoroughly beaten when a furlong out. Patsy Brown and Jerry Lynch ran almost as one horse all the way, the former finishing first on sufferance. It was a virtual canter for the entry as Don Domo crossed his legs the minute the barrier went up and threw his rider. He ran away for six furlongs before being stopped, but at a slow rate of speed as the bridle became tangled around his right front leg. Dr. Stephens, under a hard drive, gradually wore down Autumn Leaves in he final sixteenth and got up in time to win in the final strides. Autumn Leaves showed great speed, but kept bearing out in the final eighth and Robbins was too weak to keep her straight.
