Lady Free Knight appeared the winner when a sixteenth out, but tired in the closing strides. Salto was well beaten just after turning for home. Belle Juan ran well for four and a half furlongs. The latter ran well, but tired palpably under punishment when called on in the last eighth. Safeguard tired fast when a furlong out and the same may be said of Goal Runner. Pirate began slowly and showed scant speed when he got into his full stride.
