Mackey Dwyer gets away badly with unfailing regularity and never escapes crowding on the first turn and his mishaps today were more aggravating than usual. He trailed his field patiently to the half, where he commenced to move up and flashed into the lead through a lucky, opening on the stretch turn and was unexpectedly driving at the end. Red Knights speed was reserved in the early running and when he found clear sailing he was closing up like a cyclone. Sentinel was a prominent factor in the race for seven furlongs, held on with unexpected pertinacity and is a promising colt. The Carmelite probably did not run his race which might have been expected from his sluggish "warm up." Sir Voor-hies raced in front and under a choking pull for three furlongs and was crowded out of Ms position on the backstretch, but ran extra well for his first race this year. Winner — B. c, by Dr. MacBride — Alabana trained by F. A. Jones. Went to post at 2:55. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second the same. Jim Kelly wort all the way after getting away well and showed high speed and gameness at the end. Clifton Forge pressed the winner at all stages and ran a cracking good race. Bryn Mawr, a colt of colossal proportions, got away slowly and raced on the outside to the stretch, finishing very fast under an Inadequate and weak finish. He looks like a coming crackerjack. Tomcod came fast in the stretch and ran a game race, but was evidently outclassed by the colt that beat him out for third place. Bob Murphy tired right at the end after giving early chase to the leaders. Cascine got away poorly and had no chance with .an incompetent jockey. Reliance appeared undeveloped and unconditioned, is big and a grand looker and will do better. Scratched — Pentano, 112. Jim Kelly, show, 1 to 2. Clifton Forge, show, 3 to 1. Bryn Mawr, show, 4 to 5. Start straggling. Won easily; second the •same. Ella Snyder forced the pace throughout and received a lucky and skillful ride and came away with a lot in reserve when squared away for the finish. Coruscate got away Tjadly and was crossed on the first turn and afterwards pocketed to the stretch, where she made a fast but dilatory move and could never get up. Semper Vivum was well treated in the race and came on well at the end. Clorita failed to stay. Mary Worth fails to run up to her private work. Scratched-392662Past, 104. Heno forced the pace from start to finish and at the end of a mile and a quarter had everything soundly beaten, practically cantering home. He was a great and unbeatable horse to-~day and ran kindly. Africander put up a fast and game struggle for ten furlongs before .he succumbed and tiring badly only just got home ahead of Major Daingerfield. The latter appeared high In flesh and needed this race, followed the pacemakers closely for the first six furlongs when he commenced to fall back only to unexpectedly come back again at the very end.
