Went to post at 2:32. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Tom Crabb was high in flesh, but ran a good race and was best ridden. Aransas was cut off at the stretch turn, but came fast in the stretch and was probably best. Regatta was off badly and made up a lot of ground in the bad going, but tired from his effort. Madam tired badly after making up much ground. Tom Crabb, show, 2 to 1. Aransas, show, 3 to 5. Early Regent, show, 3 to 1. SECOND RACE— 5-8 Mile. Purse 00. 2-year-olds. Pipe Dreams and Ben Adkins raced away from the field on the turn and Pipe Dreams bore in and Bonner pulled Ben Adkins up to almost a walk. Pipe Dreams then came on and won easily. Matt Wadleigh ran to his best form. Bush Smith was best of the long shots and ran a fairly good race. Scratched— 39428Rhyme and Reason, 110. Overweights — Bonnie Bob, 3 pounds. Wellesley showed great speed and opened up a big gap on his field, but Donnelly became careless and was caught napping in the stretch. Incidental, high in flesh, ran a creditable race. Start good for all but Joe Doughty and Found. Won easily; second the same. Lady Strathmore ran in much improved form, was beautifully managed and given a powerful finish. Pourquoi Pas ran a good race and might have given the winner an argument had she not been taken into deep going in the last eighth. Pirateer showed improvement and ran an extra good race for him. Jack Young was well handled and had no mishaps, but ran a dull race. South Breeze showed speed, but was given a weak ride. Found was straight as barrier went up and refused to break. Scratched— 392152Lingo, 100. Overweights — Found, 2 pounds. Lady Strathmore, show, 4 to 5. Entry, show, 3 to 2. Pirateer, show, evens. Jack Young, show, 1 to 2.
