The Kentuckian showed much the most speed throughout and won as his rider pleased. Harney was taken wide when turning for home, losing ground, but rallied rapidly when a furlong out and finished going fast. Mike Strauss made up much ground in the last quarter and was running past horses at the end. James J. Corbett ran a good race, standing a long stretch drive. Sea Lion showed some early speed. Dr. Nowlin ran to his best form, fenced without an error and held Helen Paxton safe all through the final eighth. The latter appeared to have a good chance when taking the last jump, but tired when challenged by the winner. Spurs ran in improved form and bears watching from now on. He loses a little ground at times in taking the jumps. King Galong fell away badly beaten after taking the tenth jump. Sanfoin fell over the eighth ""jump and Ceylon over the. first. He stood a long stretch drive and bears watching from now on. Hernando faltered palpably in the stretch run. Lucien Appleby ran a dull race. He went on and worked out an extra eighth. Captain Hugh Bradley met with much interference, but at that ran a dull race, falling r away badly after turning for home. Prodigal Son ran well for seven furlongs. Cogswell i never threatened.
