Lady Free Knight, off flying, was never headed, and displaying much speed, won much as she pleased. Gus Heidorn ran a good race, but was tiring at the end. Ralph Young finished going fast and would have been second in a few more strides. Banwell, as usual made up much ground in the final quarter and finished with a rush. Beneficent ran a dull race and can do better. Salto fell just after the barrier went up, throwing Reiff. Scratched— 389442Plea, 95; Fortuny, 109. Overweights— Salto, 1 pound. Won handily; second driving. Hargis moved up fast when turning for home and was lucky in getting through next to the inside rail. He was gradually going away at the finish under a strong drive. Jack Rattlin showed much speed, but tired fast in the closing strides. Talpa carried him along at a fast rate for six furlongs and this probably took it all out of him at the end. Hoodwink finished going fast and would have been second in another stride or two. Dr. Stephens ran an excellent race, considering the weights and finished strongly under a powerful ride. Talpa tired rapidly in the last hundred yards. Bragg ran well for five and a half furlongs. Scratched— 394433Red Comyn, 107; 38594 Amur, 105; 39534 Jack Demund, 107; 39592 Thane,. 104. Organdie came with a rush in the last one hundred yards and would have been second in another stride. Epicure finished going fast on his own courage. He appeared somewhat sore when going to the post. Mimo ran a dull race and was never a serious contender. Gypzene showed speed for five furlongs. Merryilight ran a fair race and bears watching hereafter. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Our Bessie wore down Haydon in the last sixteenth and was going away fast at the end T,he latter showed much speed, but tired fast when a sixteenth out. He probably runs best in a soft track. Louisville outstayed Haviland in the final sixteenth and the race should do her good. Haviland was thrown clear out of the race by Safeguard at the first turn, where the latter crashed into the fence. Annie Thompson also suffered by the inter-ferene. Olonetz and Bard Burns ran well for six furlongs. Safeguard, being crowded against the rail at the first turn, injured jockey Knapp and the horse was pulled up after running about three furlongs. The latter came with a rush in the closing strides in .the. center of the track and finished going fast. Falkland ran an impressive race making up much ground from a slow beginning. Ida Davis faltered palpably in the last one hundred yards after showing much speed. Pat Hammon was right there for four and a half furlongs and bears watching from now on. Susie Christian was a keen contender for four and a half furlongs. The others were never in the hunt. .Scratched— 39568 Myron Dale, 103. Overweights — Jim Tyrrell, 1 pound; St. Paris, 5; Jason, 2. Examiner stood a long stretch drive and responded well to punishment, but tired perceptibly In the closing strides. Alfred C. finished going fast after making up ground gradually in the last quarter. Orsina showed much speed and, although tiring, hung on gamely under a hard drive. Sister Kate II. showed some early speed. Scratched — 39594 James J.
