Lady Vashti got away well, ran Sceptre to subjection in the first half, then drew away from her field and won as her rider pleased. Harold Parker was hard ridden all the way, made up ground gradually and was a good horse at the end. Sceptre exhibited his usual speed but quit badly in the last sixteenth. Dotty Shute ran a winning race from a bad beginning. Nath Woodcock had no mishaps. Crime got off well, but ran a bad race. Scratched— 39303 Don Ernesto, 105. Overweights — Lillie Long, 3 pounds. Louis Wagner showed the most speed throughout, made all the running and won as his rider pleased. Maud Gonne did her best, but was not at her best and ran a dull race A. D. Gibson was cut off soon after the start and all but jerked to a standstill by his rider. He came again and ran a race that might have made him a serious contender but for the accident at the start. Kindred got off in front and ran well for a half, then quit His impost probably anchored him, but he runs very inconsistently. Overweights — Maud Gonne, 3 pounds. Louis Wagner, show, out. Wreath of Ivy got away luckily in a poor start and quickly overhauled Moulin Rouge and Perla, but had to be driven out to the last ounce to beat Mafalda. The latter had a rough trip and was poorly handled, but closed up fast in the stretch and would have won in another stride. St. Agnes n. at last showed a flash of liter real form. Perla showed speed for a half. Moulin Rouge also exhibited early speed, but tired at the end. Sararose got off poorly and suffered from weak handling. Wreath of Ivy, show, 4 to 5. Won easily; second driving. Hilee broke well in his stride, opened up a big gap in the first quarter and the result was never afterwards in doubt. Father Wentker ran well, but was tiring at the finish and Kenova would have been second in another stride. Kenova was outrun in the first part of the race, but was going well at the end. Kansas Lily got off none too well, was rushed after her horses before she got fully in her stride and tired in the stretch. The last three were all but left. The Wizard took the lead at flagfall, made all the pace and was helped to victory by a mixup at the three-eighths, when he came away from his field. Smith laid out of it too long with Kingstelle, which was coming fast around the turn, when Chickasha quit suddenly and threw the whole field into confusion. Eliza Dillon came on with Kingstelle and outgamed Sardian at the end. Broodier ran an extra good race under a weak rider. The Wizard, show, 2 to 5. Kingstelle, show, 1 to 2. Eliza Dillon, show, 3 to 5.
