Taby Tosa was in the soft going for the first quarter and was thrown against the fence on the first turn, but gamely stuck to his work, maintaining a good position, closed up fast around the turn, caught Kaffir after a long drive and then won pulled up. Kaffir was used too much early, but maintained his speed well and was not beaten up to the last forty k yards. It was a good race for him. Jack Young can do better. So can W. B. Gates.
