Ahumada showed great speed, simply spreadeagled his field and won easing up. Illyria came from the rear in the long stretch run, finishing very fast. Girdle ran in improved lorm, but fell away slightly after a severe early stretch effort to overhaul the winner. Brigand got away poorly and when turning for home on the inside was anchored in the deep going and was frequently interfered with and at times pocketed. He is keyed up now for long distance races and todays route was too short for him. Muzio showed a fine burst of speed for five furlongs and finished fairly well up. Rightful, after being badly outrun made up some ground in the last quarter. 1 Scratched 424S9Gaviota, 120; 42243Nine Spot, 112; 424S6 Princess Tulane, 110. Corrected weights Brigand. 110. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second driving. All Gold dropped in directly behind the two leaders in the early running and, closing up like a cyclone when straightened for home, won off by himself. He was much the best and was in extra fine form. Nine Spot, after trailing the field for six furlongs, came through on the. inside like a flash at the end, showing surprising form. Nevermore had a rough journoy in the stretch and when with clear sailing in the final sixteenth finished with a rush and in another stride would have been second. Stroller was skillfully rated and sustained his speed in front in improved fashion, but is still sore and unfit to do his best on a dry track Oclawaha finished well up. Monograph pulled up lame. Ernest Parham was badly interfered with in the stretch, but was unable to raise a respectable gallop in the early stages and ran a very bad race. Won ridden out; second driving Harangue, suddenly improved, came out of the ruck in the final sixteenth and won going away with a rush. Lady Amelia put up a remarkably fast and game race at the weights and but for taking the inside deep going in her stretch run would probably have won Crown Prince, on the outside, came from a long way back at the end and was going very fast. Pol Roger is a genuinely improved colt and was a prominent contender throughout Agnes Brennan ran lapped on Lady Amelia to the last fifty yards, where she tired Marjoram, away badly, closed a big gap ad finished running faster than everything except the winner. Julia M. was also closing up fast at the end. Scratched 42386Grenade, 125; 42464Divination, 121; 424392Orthodox, 108; 42513Emergency, Overweights Harangue, 5 pounds; Pol Roger, 4. He has probably been indulged since his Brighton Cup victory and was not quite keyed up. Stolen Moments was driving from the start to keep within striking distance and commenced to gain rapidly when turning for home and had Hermis driving hard to shake her off at the end, ran the best race of her career and is close to high class. Champiain made all the running and finished out the long stretch run with superior game-ness and is evidently a stayer. Reveille steadily improved his position after getting away poorly, closing a big gap into a fast going second. Dutiful attended the winner closely throughout, losing ground by a wide stretch turn, but held on resolutely to the end and ran an extra good race. Clear the Arena showed a lot of speed and stayed the journey well, but was not quite good enough. Ancestor was crowded and interfered with all through the homestretch. Algonquin ran a good race. Sonoma Belle, getting away badly and outrun in the early stages, finished like a whirlwind after being straightened for home and ran a remarkable race. Contend showed improved form, held on steadily in third position from the start and put up a good effort in the closing drive. Our Nugget displayed her accustomed speed, but as usual failed to stay. St. Finnan, evidently not fit. made a fair showing and of course can do much better. Clonmell ran a poor race. Namtor. nearly left, made up some ground. His race was a comparatively poor one.
