W. came again in the stretch run after going wide on the turn for home, and under a vigorous ride, got up just in time. Chanterelle showed a fine turn of speed, but was used too much and tired at the finish. Bean closed a big gap and finished fast. Binehelio tired and quit from his efforts to catch Chanterelle. Butler waited with him until in the last furlong where he came away from the others and won easing up. Chief Deputy ran a very good race for a green horse and will do to remember. Goldspink showed speed, but tired in the final strides. Henry Waite is a slow beginner and was unlucky. Kern showed early speed, but was unable to concede the weight and tired badly. Bud Embry raced Flaneur to defeat in -the run down the backstretch, moved up while rounding the far turn and took command without great effort in the stretch run, but Butler was easing him up at the end and almost threw the race away. Frank Mc finished with a determined rush and just got up in time to get second place from Antolee. The latter was in close quarters next to the inside rail all of the last furlong. Baffled tired. Won driving; second the same Red Raven was outrun in the first part of the race, but wore down the leaders while rounding the far turn and outgamed Carl Kahler in a sharp final drive. The .latter was much used ln chasing Haidee, but ran an excellent race. Reservation was outrun in the first half, but came with a great burst, of speed in the stretch and would have won in a few more strides. Orfeo was ridden all over the track and ran twenty yards farther than anything else in the race. Tarn oShanter showed but little speed. Ben Howard" ran well. Edna Shannon showed a fine turn of speed, but was used up in setting the pace and tired and hung when the pinch came. Anna Hastings ran to her best form and was driving to the limit at the end to stall off Mai Lowery. The latter ran the best race- of the field, but began slowly and was crowded back in the first sixteenth, then closed a big gap and would have been third in another stride. King Rose began slowly, but wore down Oconee in the stretch run and got second place without trouble. Quiz lost ground when turning for home. Oconee showed speed, but tired in the final furlong.
