AVent to post at 3:05. At post 2 minutes. Start good. AVon handily; second easilv. English Lad is certainly a grand two-year-old. Off fiatfooted, he was badly outrun for the first five furlongs, but moved up rapidly on the far turn. Dominick took no chance to get pocketed when turning for home and swung somewhat wide. English Lad responded gallantly in the tinal eighth under vigorous urging and gradually wore down Shawana in the i closing strides. The latter tired slightly when challenged by the winner. She swerved I toward the inside rail when a furlong out, cutting off Dick Bernard and Flo Bob, causing the jockeys on the two latter to pull up slightly. Badger Girl showed much speed and stuck gamely to her work all through the final eighth. Flo Bob should have been much closer up but for the interference. He ran well and finished resolutely. Glisten made up much ground in the final quarter. Dick Bernard appeared to lose heart after the interference and Grav seeing he had no chance eased him up somewhat. Auditor ran a good race, standing a long stretch drive with great gameness. Jack Demund showed much speed, but was well done for when a furlong out. Our Bessie finished resolutely.
