NOTES OF THE TURF. H. L. L., Chicago. To win A should have backed the Hayes entry. He chose to back Lady Strathmove alone and as she was beaten his wager was a loser. A. B., Chicago. As Lady Strathmore lost the wager was lost also. J. A. McC. and Co., Galesburg, 111. Hello was 7 to 10 place in the fourth race at Brighton Beach October 22. J. C, Chicago. Wyeth has not won since winning the American Derby. Tracy, San Francisco, Cal. There is no question in connection with your parlay. It was a winner on Cardwellton, Our Bessie and Deutschland and void as to Charley Thompson, he being "out" for place. Cardwellton was an entry in the second race alone and could not have been in the first, it having been a race for two-year-olds. R. A. Smith, well known to racegoers as the trainer of Articulate, was in Chicago yesterday, having stopped oil en route to California where he will race a string of horses this winter. In conversation he stated that most of his horses, which were raced in the east, had been sick the past summer but have now fully recovered. As regards Articulate, he was taken sick with the rest of the string and kept on getting worse, finally causing his destruction to end his suffering. S. LHommedieu left last night for Lato-nia, Ky., where he will remain until the opening of the San Francisco meeting. Jockey Buchanan, who was suspended by Judge Hamilton for an alleged bad ride on Incubator, was in Chicago yesterday. The rider came here supposedly to sue for reinstatement at the hands of the stewards of the Western Jockey Club. Several horsemen, including starter Dwyer, John F. Schorr, S. S. Bender, S. G. Morton, F. C. Mpshier, C. Blalock, jockeys D. Hall and Ferrell, left last night for San Francisco.
