Goldfinder was at home in the going and showed the most speed all the way, but had to be hustled along at the end to stall off Fair Lady Anna. The latter finished fast, was wearing down the winner at the end and would have won in another stride. First Attempt was used up in chasing the leaders and tired. Outlon was carefully rated by Minder, was under restraint for the first half, came fast in the stretch run and, outgaming Preakness, was going away at the finish. Preakness showed the most speed to the stretch, but tired under pressure. Barney Dreyfuss began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished fast. Anna Hastings showed early speed, as also did Hermoine. Silk Cord began slowly, but wore Flaneur down on the backstretoh and raced him into submission while rounding the far turn, then came away without much effort in the stretch run. Chickadee finished fast after getting away all tangled up. Flaneur was off flying and had every early advantage, but tired under pressure. Sue Johnson showed speed, but tired. Lode Star was coming fast at the end. Radford was left at the post, but followed the field. Mr. Rose ran his race, was well ridden and had no mishaps. Tricotin tired in the last quarter and had to be hard ridden to stall off Eva Moe. The latter went very wide at the turn into the homestretch. Faraday Jr. ran out of the course after taking the second jump. Eva Moe seemed overweighted. Woodlawn Belle ran green and began slowly, but closed a big gap and outgamed Ruth Parrish in the stretch drive. The latter began slowly also, but ran a good race and is worth remembering. Melbourne Eclipse and Sailors Dream fought it out hard for third position,, the former getting it by a narrow margin. John J. Regan tired in the last sixteenth.
