Alta G lucky at the start and lightly weighted, held a forward position to the stretch, -where she drew to the front like a flash and won with something In reserve. Flourish improved his position steadily and at the end finished going fast under a poor ride. Foul Play displayed plenty of early speed, but failed to ,stay. Toto Gratiot fell out of serious contention in the early running, but made up ground in the stretch run. Past Master was nearly left and closed a big gap. Amasa quit early. Nullah, practically left, gained ten lengths on the leaders and finished easing up. Cherries was unable to stride freely in the going. Corrected weights Toto Gratiot, 102; Cherries.106. Dorice, skillfully handled and lucky at the start, decisively outpaced and outstayed her field throughout. Anirad was the only serious contender and ran a fast and game race. Metlakatla closed up fast in the stretch run and just got up in time to save third place. Durbar, on the inside and a slow beginner, lost much ground at the start and was gaining rapidly on her field in the stretch. Avenger ran on the inside throughout and in close quarters to the stretch, where he came with a belated rush. The Cure developed a lot of speed and finished close up, but was tiring in the closing strides. Miss Ringlets will do better in longer races and on a good track. Scratched 38660 F. E. Won in a canter; second driving. Matt Hogan was very fit, beat the barrier and won all the way hard held and far outclassed the field. Berendos was the only serious contender, but a distant one throughout and was nearly caught napping at the end for second place. Laureatea ran within hailing distance from the start and finished with a rush. Saintly made up a lot of ground after being nearly left at the post. Little Margaret was overweighted and disliked the going and can do much better on a fast track. At post 3 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second easily. Miracle II. fell out of the early running, but began to gain rapidly on the far turn and, finishing fast, wore C. B. Campbell down at the end. C. B. Campbell forced a stiff pace from the start and was probably unlucky to lose, as Foley appeared to be caught napping in the closing strides. Horton, all but left, trailed many lengths behind the field, moving up with a meteoric rush on the far turn, but went hopelessly wide, losing a half dozen lengths, which told in the final drive, where he tired. He was much the best and very badly ridden. Rosarie finished a respectable fourth, but can do better. Chileno went well for six furlongs. Harry Thatcher, always a useful horse in this going, showed speed and was evidently short. Scratched 427S72Illowaho, 110. Overweights Rosarie, 5 pfeunds. Miracle II., show, out. C. B. Won in a canter; second driving Canejo, suddenly improved, practically forced the pace from the start, coming away decisively at the half and won away off as if much the best. Galanthus was lucky and had clear sailing, but was inadequately handled and loafed throughout, but caught Loyal S. tiring at the end and got up for second place in the last stride. The latter showed a lot of speed and stamina in this race and is an improved horse. Myrtle H. finished well, running an unexpectedly good race. Rollick, away fiatfooted and crowded at the start, lacked in speed and was never dangerous. Ben Mac Dhui indulged Oro Viva with a brief lead, going to the front on the backstretch and cantering the remainder of the journey and is a high-class horse in his present form. Byron Rose, nearly left and incapably handled, trailed far in the rear to the stretch, where he closed up like a flash and was much the best of the others. Arcade held a forward position for six furlongs, tiring in the run home as if short, is a good looker and will make good. Bill Massie was unable to raise a respectable gallop today and ran a very bad race. Oro Viva likes this going and ran a fast five furlongs, tired and was short. Corrected weights Arcade, 103.
