Greenock moved up fast on the far turn and, leading when straightened for home.came away under a pull, was much the best and outclassed his field in the going. Billy Moore, also favored by mud, forced the pace to the stretch and had an easy task in beating the others. Redwald, away poorly and inadequately handled, closed up a lot of ground on his own courage and is best on a cuppy, half dried out track. Bedner, nearly left, made up some ground in the early running and then fell away. Marelio quit after going a good five furlongs. Max Bendix was prominent to the far turn and finished eased up. Bear-catcher, probably one of the best two-year-olds in the country, has trained on from his high-class form of early spring and ran and looks like a crackerjack, got away well, quickly ran into the lead and held it to the end, where he tired slightly and the race should fit him. Sol Smith, away in his stride and skillfully reserved in close attendance on the leaders, turned for home on the inside and finished very fast. Don Domo was held at the post, got away flatfooted, then fell in behind the winner, waiting to the far turn before moving up, getting on nearly even terms when beginnig the final quarter, but tired badly in the stretch run. Avenger, a slow beginner, ran a steady and fast race for him and shows improvement. Overweights Winifreda, 4 pounds. Bearcatcher, show, out. Sol Smith, show, 3 to 5. Don Domo, show, out. Start good. Won in a canter; second easily. Sugden broke slowly, but improved his position rapidly and was in front on the far turn, came away decisively in the stretch run and was much the best. Galanthus, away poorly, lost much ground in the early running, closing a big gap in the last half. Bard Burns forced the pace to the far turn, w.here he tired after a sharp brush with the winner. Cancjo held a rear position throughout and ran a bad race. Harry Thatcher, not keyed up, showed superior speed, but tired. Mountebank was also palpably short and will make good later on. Bragg, in rare form and particularly suited by the difficult going, at once ranged alongside of Eonic and, under a pull, passed her on the backstretch, coming home alone. Eonic is not partial to weight over a hundred pounds and was decisively outrun by the winner, but ran a fast and game race and was much the best of the others. Horatius, outrun early and trailing the field, gained rapidly in the stretch run and ran a cracking good race. Yellow Tail tired in the going, in which he has never been able to stride freely. Nigrette looks big and high and, after holding a forward position for six furlongs, failed through lack of condition. Overweights Bragg, 2 pounds; Yellow Tail. 2; Nigrette, 1. Bragg, show, out. Martinmas, always prominent in the early running, came through into a good lead oh the inside in the last quarter and just got home, as he was tiring badly in the very deep going next to the rail. Lord Melbourne, nearly left, closed a tremendous gap and, finishing like a cyclone, would have won in another stride. Captivate, a vastly improved filly, made the running for over five furlongs before relinquishing her lead and but for a very wide stretch turn might have won. Silurian, last at the half, closed up a lot of ground. The Fretter held on steadily to midway of the stretch, where he fell back. Tower of Candles got away badly and had a rough journey, but loomed up a strong contender when beginning the final sixteenth. Matt Hogan quit in the stretch after following the leader closely and ran a bad race. Scratched-38694 Hainault, 106; 42S41sMildred Schultz, 101; 42824 Oro Viva, 93. Won driving; second easily. Diderot forced the pace from the start and showed more speed than his only serious opponent, but turning for home on the inside in deep going, tired in the closing strides and just lasted long enough to score a lucky victory. Miracle II., under pressure, kept up in close attendance on the winner throughout, but losing ground through a wide stretch turn, could never get up and finished fast wearing Diderot down at the end. Dodie S. found the journey too short, but ran a steady race and was going fast in the stretch run. Colonel Van was overweighted, but showed a lot of early speed and finished well. El Rio Shannon is in bad form. Overweights Colonel Van, 4 pounds; Constable, 2. Diderot, show, out. Miracle II., show, out. Dodie S., show, 1 to 2.
