Regan showed speed and was ridden with srood iudement but was not equal to the task, although displaying rare gameness at the end Kilmorie seemingly sulked in the early stages, but came with a rush in the final quarter and was going fastest of all at the end. Sister Lillian held a forward position for seven-eighths, then tired. Continued on third page. Lyrist overhauled her competitors in the stretch and appeared an easy winner, but was forced to a hard drive at the end to withstand Athenas determined challenge. The latter began slowly and seemingly did not get fully into her stride until in the stretch run, where she came on fast. Miss Fleischmann displayed early speed, but tired and swerved badly in the last furlong, cutting sharply across Iole, thereby seriously affecting the latters chances. Overweights Belltoone, 3 pounds. Fugurtha came fast in the stretch and appeared to be the winner seventy yards from the finish, but faltered when his rider went to the whip. Harlem Lane developed a superior turn of speed in the early stages, but tired. Talala ran well. Welles-ley had no hishaps and ran a poor race for him. Corrected weights Gallagher, 110. The latter jumped cleanly, displayed early speed and raced Balzac to defeat, but tired from her early effort. Mr. Rose fenced well and had no mishaps. Segraves forced the early pace and held on gamely under punishment, showing considerable improvement. Circular Joe began slowly, but saved ground on the turns and finished going fast. Woodlyn made up much ground after being shuffled back shortly after the start. Hobsons Choice ran an unaccountably dull race and can do better. Dave Sommers and Benmora fought it out closely for the last three furlongs and Booker on the former outrode Austin at the end. Benmora was held under restraint in the early stages, but forced the pace thereafter and ran his race. Alee was a serious contender throughout and only tired near the end. The race was run in darkness and it was impossible to distinguish the colors with accuracy at the three-quarters.
