Nine Spot broke slowly, but made up ground gradually and went around the field on the stretch turn, closed up fast in the stretch run and was going away at the end. Star and Garter showed surprising improvement, was much used in early racing and could not quite last. Miladi Love ran well, but was tiring at the end. The Guardsman was taken up too fast in the first quarter and tired when it came to the final drive. Flara showed improvement. Scortic was crowded at the start, but closed up ground when settled to running and finished fast. Cottage Maid got off poorly. It was a poor race for Gloriosa, Scratched 42843 Fortunatus, 105; 427SS Blue Victor, 103; 42083 Fuego, 101; 41S543Courtmaid, 100; 427702Widows Mite, 96. Corrected weights Nine Spot, 103. Gold Dome received the benefit of a strong ride and that won for him, as he was all out and doing his best at the end. Gananogue improves with each race, stood a long stretch drive gamely and was wearing the winner down at the finish. Niskayuna tired in the final drive after being a sharp contender all the way. The next half dozen were closely bunched and pressing each other at the end. Conkling closed a big gap after slow to begin. Cedar Rapids has been overrated. Trapezist won as if he outclassed his company, fenced well and showed much speed between jumps and was eased up at the end. Draughtsman ran his usual good race, but had no chance to beat the winner and was eased up in the last hundred yards. Meteorite should improve from this race, fenced well and finished fast. Alene Abbott went down at the second jump. The others cut no figure in the race. Scratched C. C. Crolly, 151; 42S27 The Rival, 137. Corrected weights Meteorite, 143. Draughtsman, show, 1 to 2. Alforten ran the best race of his" career, outbroke his company, forced a fast pace all the way and was under restraint at the end. Coppelia displayed improvement. Shut out right after the start, she made up ground and closed up fast in the stretch, but was eased slightly when Redfern saw he had no chance to beat the winner. Peter Paul was plainly short and should improve from this race. Marjoram was a sharp contender to the final furlong, when she tired under a drive. Silverfoot was close up because the others were pulling up. Juvenal Maxim worked fast for this race, but did not race to expectations. It was too much weight for Harangue. Fortunatus made a determined effort in the final furlong, but tired in the last hundred yards. Cloverland hung on well at the end under punishment. Hackensack came fast at the end and would have been third in a few more strides. Widows Mite ran a good race for seven furlongs, then tired badly. McWilliams ran poorly. Carbuncle ran a fine race, saved ground by running next to the rail all the way and was lucky to get through in the final furlong, had to be hustled to get to the front, but won going away at the end. Unmasked was used racing with Wire In and Buttons, had not much left to finish with and was doing his best at the end to stall off April Shower. The latter ran a good race, aided by his light weight. His weight and the pace were too much for Buttons. Illyria ran a good race. Wild Pirate ran fairly well only. Wire In is speedy, but does not seem able to stay. River Pirate ran a poor race for him.
